Victorian TAFE International (VTI) was established in 1998 and now forms part of the Victorian TAFE Association (VTA). The VTI is a professional network and community of international VET practice that comprises the leaders of international and transnational vocational education and training (VET) in the Victorian TAFE sector.
With over 100 individual members representing international programs at 12 TAFE institutes and four TAFE/VET Divisions of dual sector universities, the VTI network connects all international Government VET programs across Victoria – delivered locally and worldwide.
Our members’ programs are global and diverse, covering all facets of international VET, including: onshore international programs; transnational education and partnerships; international TVET system reform, consulting and capacity building; bespoke industry training; aid sector projects and more, with VET services and programs delivered in more than 25 countries around the world.
Our individual members work in senior roles across the international VET sector, such as program management, student recruitment, business development, marketing and communications, student support, admissions, and quality and compliance.
Acknowledging the unique strengths and international objectives of each member institute, the VTI network provides a platform for the identification and facilitation of collaborative Victorian TAFE opportunities. The VTI also provides support to members through professional development and member networking, research. market intelligence, best practice information sharing, strategy development, project design, advocacy and cross-sectoral representation to a wide range of stakeholders on all aspects of international education.

The VET sector
VET is one of the three major sectors of education and training in Australia, the other two being the school and higher education sectors. VET is provided by industry, adult education, community based and also private training providers.
Vocational Education and Training is supported by the Commonwealth and State governments in Australia primarily through their TAFE Institutes and TAFE Divisions in dual sector universities. TAFE means technical (or training in some states) and further education. TAFE institutes and TAFE divisions in universities are supported by the state government to provide vocational education and training.
